How does this calculator work?

Check the final price before paying. This calculator applies the discount first, then calculates tax on the discounted price.

The formula

Final price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100) × (1 + tax ÷ 100)

What should you know?

  • Set tax to zero if the price already includes it or no tax applies.
  • The savings shown are the discount before tax.

Common questions

Do two 20% discounts equal a 40% discount?

No. Applying 20% twice in succession leaves 64% of the original price, a total discount of 36%.

When is tax added?

Here it is added after the discount. Check the seller’s invoicing rules for your purchase.
